HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Postby ERawkStar on Wed Dec 31, 2008 7:54 pm

Well, at Greenwich Mean Time, not yet in Chicago. Just wanted to wish you guys one. I miss the old days of more activity around here, though the other board I post on pretty much runs my life (well, at least it's not MySpace).

Here's my New Year's Resolution for the board - get the new kids active in OT when the band doesn't have much news going on. Maybe get some of the old ones to come back...

Love,

Eliza

Happy New Year to you too, Eliza! And to all my other OR fan friends! :D

I have yet to decide on a resolution for this year. I never make them because I never keep them.....go figure.
There's only now, there isn't then. So just breathe it in.

Happy Year to y'all* too!!

Yeah, the board ain't jumping as much as it used to, but I'm wondering whether that's cyclical** or whatnot. Personally, I just haven't had as much time to post as I used to since going back to school. I mean I still check the board out on a regular basis, but to post something (especially of length) seems so . . . well, almost daunting these days. But I mean, that applies to me writing emails too nowadays. I used to write these long, well thought-out emails to my close friends -- now it's all information-based drivel. Bleh.

Oh, btw, how was your x-mas vacay in NY this year, Eliza?

* I'm in Texas at the moment.

** Okay, I'm not sure if positing that this board's activity comes and goes in cycles is entirely . . . right on. Or, if it is more or less the case, and assuming the activity peaks occur when OR releases a new album and/or are on tour, it begs the question why that spike didn't really happen w/ The Stand Ins. As least, comparatively speaking to their previous albums.
Bring it on, Vietnam!!

NY was fine but I felt like I was running errands the entire time I was there. I also woke up at 5AM CST more times than I cared for. Since I started a new job, I didn't have quite the vacation time to use. They also have a limit on how many days you can use in December.

I think also breaking up the Jound board had something to do with it. You don't get too many people who are exclusively fans of Shearwater checking out the OR board and vice versa anymore (I haven't been on the Shearwater board in ages myself). Plus, I think the new structure of the board has people wondering (or at least myself) "should I bump that old OT thread in the OR section or start a new one in OT?"
