Thanks for posting these as mp3s (it’s too much of a hassle for me to listen to m4a’s so I skipped it the first time). It sounds really good. Unfortunately, my schedule is once again already booked. I’m trying to work out whether I can see both Gomez and Wreckless Eric/Amy Rigby (doable if Gomez don’t add an opener) or which I will choose if I need to. But please keep posting show dates as soon as you have them. One day I will be available and would like to see you guys.

Thanks Heather! I had no idea Wreckless Eric was still around... I'm sure that show will be a blast!

I'm not totally sure, that could be the case. I know Chris from that band Ariel is really good friends with the Darkroom people and he got us in touch with them.

I posted a couple more dates that we have coming up, if you go definitely say hi to me. I'll hook you up with some free stuff if you want it.

It was a pretty funny show... the other bands that played were pretty... low key, we didn't fit in very well, but that's perfectly fine with me. They reviewed it (although it was more of a puff piece on all the bands because KEXP were the ones that put it together so of course they aren't going to say anything bad):

"Yep, as is usually the case in Chicago, October's Equalizer fell on a pretty busy night. Between the Cubs playoff game and the season premier of Joe Rogan's Fear Factor — Oops! I mean the VP debates (sorry, I get confused with all the barfing) it looked like Equalizer had the makings of a perfect storm of a suckey night in indie-town. But nay, my friends, t'was not so! As doors opened at darkroom, its murky gloom was off-set by the flicker of a giant projection screen centered over the stage displaying the arguments of two inert talking balloon animals who may one day over-see special task forces for low priority government agencies which do things that no one knows or cares about. Yet, like a hipster magnet the large sparkling surface drew them threw the door one by one and two by two and ever closer the evening's destiny of rock!

But no sooner had the giant screen snapped back up inside its hanging receptacle and the stage lights flashed on then Elephant Gun leapt into action with all 100 of their members (or so it seemed) and shook the stillness loudly to pieces. With an instant cacophony of horns, strings, and gadgety percussion devices along side traditional rock instruments — guitars, drums bass, keys, Elephant Gun played a frenzied 35 minute set that smacked any of the residual bad taste from the debate right out of everyone's mouth and reminded us all what we came here to do.

A collection of musicians from Elgin, IL, and Chicago, Elephant Gun sound like what I might imagine to hear in a bar brawl between the Minute Men, the Polyphonic Spree and John Philip Sousa. I happen to be a fan of all three of those artists so that is a complement. Anyone familiar with their new album "KP" which they recently self released might be a little shocked to see how much they step up the intensity level in their live performance but in my experience that is almost always preferable to the other way around."

Don't these so-called music geeks at KEXP know that it's " the Minutemen" and not "the Minute Men"?
Other than that, congrats on the write-up.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure... not quite sure at all. Very nice people... again, but we didn't belong on that show, the rest of the bands, not to be an ass, were insanely boring generic indie-rock garbage. I am quite positive people only got into them because they were hipster friendly. Neither of the bands had any fucking soul or fun.

Don't get me wrong, the people in these bands were super nice... but I left the show being kind of bummed out about how many terrible bands are thriving out there.

They interviewed all the bands and our interview consisted of us explaining how our label is going to be releasing a cologne called paralelli by Mustafa Dakka (the drummer for the brokedowns) and our trumpet player talking like Carl from ATHF and explaining what he looks for in a girl and then reciting some ridiculously awful poem.

On the positive side we did get a toooon of free 312, at one point they put 2 in my hand.

Yeah I went to a KEXP show there I want to say about a year ago. I think it was Airiel that was headlining and Scotland Yard opened up for them (one other band was there as well but we got there kinda late). In all honesty, I've met Stephanie from SYGC once, she's a nice girl and I like how her vocals sound on the new Dianogah album but I can't get into SYGC. They seem shambolic in a not-so-good way to me.

I haven't heard good things about Takka Takka and the other band I had no clue existed.

You sure will! We are actually doing a tour to Calfornia and back this summer and we just recorded a new album... so we will be around a couple more years at least. I'll buy you a drink if you ever make one.

And it won't be your March 7 one -- which I just saw listed in the mpshows e-mail -- either (Saw Doctors early, A.A. Bondy late), but it will happen. Glad to hear it sounds like things are going well for you. Good luck at next week's show.

So we just put up a new song from our album on the myspace, it's more of a straighforward rocker than our other stuff.

Also we are in the middle of either doing an east coast or midwest tour in June, we have some shows coming up in the meantime and the new album will be out by June.
